The main challenge in the project was to build a serverless architecture for data visualization. It’s a bridge between consumers (commercial and industrial facilities) and IoT engineers that install and maintain special equipment aggregating data from the consumers’ connected devices.
The Vilmate team thoroughly designed the solution’s software architecture to optimize the performance with a large number of daily visitors and computations. For that purpose, we have chosen AWS-managed services.
The smooth combination of AWS-managed services allowed efficient computation and data streaming of high-frequency event data from consumers of the energy analytics solution.
Overall, we implemented the following infrastructure:
Backend powered by AWS Lambda with Python.
Frontend powered by React and AWS Amplify.
Data storage made of secured RDS (Aurora Serverless) and DynamoDB clusters.

Value delivered
The Vilmate team conducted a thorough software requirements analysis to define what features will bring more commercial value to the customer regarding opportunity size and development time and costs.
The Python-based backend connects to IoT data from connected devices on a regular schedule, processes it, and pushes updates to the data visualization dashboards in the web application.
The solution uses Function-as-a-Service. The Vilmate team provided great scalability and a reduction in operational costs for the client’s platform. Chosen architecture helped to build an efficient and reliable data visualization for the SaaS platform.
