Best Driver
Best Labs is a Swedish software company behind Best Driver, a parcel delivery management platform developed in collaboration with Vilmate.
The product combines a mobile application for drivers with a web portal for traffic managers. Together, they support order management, route planning, driver tracking, and real-time communication throughout the delivery process.
The challenge
Best Labs needed to develop Best Driver as two connected parts: a mobile application for drivers and a web portal for traffic managers.
The mobile app had to remain intuitive for drivers of any age and experience. Order lists, navigation, location tracking, and delivery priorities needed to be easy to access while working on the road.
For traffic managers, the web portal had to provide a broader view of operations, including driver management, order list creation, route optimization, map tracking, and real-time communication during order completion.
The technical requirements added another layer: the mobile app had to run smoothly on Zebra devices and integrate with Best Labs’ existing Sync system, with all underlying processes working reliably together.

The project was developed step by step, with requirements reviewed and refined throughout the work.
Align on the initial concept
The work began by agreeing with Best Labs on the design and general view of the mobile application.
Refine and document requirements
Requirements analysis continued throughout the project. The team also compiled documentation with product specifications and a transparent description of internal operational processes.
Improve the product over time
After the initial functionality was delivered, the cooperation continued with further changes, optimization, and new features.

The solution
Vilmate developed the core components of Best Driver and connected them into a delivery management system that supports drivers and traffic managers throughout the entire delivery process.
Technical infrastructure
Python and React Native were selected as the best fit for the required functionality. The mobile application was optimized to run smoothly on Zebra devices, while stable connectivity supported the intensive data flow between drivers and traffic managers.
Driver communication and navigation
To support the large number of drivers and app users, the platform included a reliable instant messaging service. A minimalistic chat provided additional clarity, while map integrations and a user-friendly navigation interface helped drivers manage deliveries on the road.
Connected operational system
AWS, PostgreSQL, Google Maps, and MapBox support the system’s operational processes. The platform also uses client-side services and tools, including Opter, City Flow, and HERE SDK.
Sync integration
The Python-based backend regularly checks data from Best Labs’ Sync system, processes it, and displays orders in Best Driver and on the map.
