Jobcast
Jobcast is an online platform that brings candidates and employers together through podcast-style audio content.
Job seekers can apply for open positions by submitting recordings, while employers can publish job ads in the same format. Vilmate joined the project to help turn the client’s mobile product concept into working applications.
The challenge
Jobcast wanted to offer recruiters and applicants a less conventional way to communicate through audio, helping job ads stand out from the usual mix of clichés and buzzwords.
When the cooperation began in 2019, the client already had a functional website, a clear product vision, and a design specification for a mobile application.
The mobile product had to let users share employment opportunities, learn more about open positions, submit audio recordings, and receive feedback.
Our approach
The project began with a proposal outlining the estimated cost and schedule based on Jobcast’s business goals.
Define the scope and delivery rules
After the proposal was approved, Vilmate defined the scope of work and the basic rules for project implementation. The agile fixed-price contract then served as a guideline throughout the project.
Form the project team
In September 2019, Vilmate assembled a team of two front-end developers, two back-end developers—one full-time and one part-time—and a project manager.

The solution
Vilmate’s team built Jobcast mobile applications for iOS and Android from scratch using React Native, with Python supporting the backend.
Audio playback
The applications include an audio player with autoplay and background playback, giving users more flexibility when listening to recordings.
Payments for job ads
A payment system was implemented for employers who wanted to add job advertisements to the platform. It allowed them to pay for selected postings directly through the service.
Profile settings
The applications include adjustable profile settings designed to improve the accuracy of job posting search results and help users find more relevant opportunities.
Product launch
The mobile application was successfully developed and implemented under a fixed-price contract. It became available to users in the Stockholm area.
